I had a traumatizing experience about 1.5yrs ago and it was a serious case. I was charged with a DUI, Stunt Driving and 2 other charges. VERY disappointed w/ Calvin Barry(CB).My son had 3 massive,blatant & egregious violations of his Rights, which CB chose to overlook-instead of going to crown asking for charges dropped;there's video proof of police lying to 2nd officer about my son;an inconclusive tox rprt-confirmed by author of report;drug eval.rprt was cut/pasted (another surname used in place of my son's-4 times);police stmnt contradicted medical rprt; son didn't have slow/slurred speech on video as per police stmnt;confirmed health issues.CB didn't ask for POI to have that charge dropped;CB missed court date & warrant was issued for my son's arrest.After 15 mnths & large legal bill, CB tells us GREAT OFFER from crown to drop charges down to careless driving.Immediately retained new lawyer,who in 4 DAYS,approached crown & had ALL CHARGES DROPPED. Never have I met a bigger group of liars, crooks and thieves. I took them to court where they offered back half the monies I paid them. They did virtually no work; never returned calls or kept me up to date. In fact, they never even called the Crown or witnesses & worsened my situation exponentially. They agreed to have my papers purged within 120 days, and then months after the deadline, sent the info to the wrong police force. Before trial, the only meeting I had was with Calvin's wife, a landscaper. Have you ever heard of a lawyer going to trial without meeting you first to discuss the facts? Dave Burke showed up at trial after we only met once for mere minutes. Further meetings that were promised never happened. After trial, I was falsely told Dave Burke had retired so I couldn't even reach him on the phone. Run as fast as you can and as far away as you can from this swarthy group of creeps. Learn for yourself of Calvin's own charges & why he's no longer working for the Crown.

Calvin was able to get the blow over 80 and stunt driving thrown out, and he got me an absolute discharge on my dangerous driving offence. Overall, I received no criminal conviction, and no criminal record. I learned my lesson from this experience and Calvin used his advanced advocacy skills to ensure that my whole future wasn't ruined by this mistake. His court room charisma is extremely persuasive. I want to preface this by saying i have no prior convictions and before a few months ago, I had never been in trouble with the law. I made the mistake of driving after having one too many libations, was pulled over and charged with impaired driving. We hired CB after reading on his website that he was the best. What a JOKE and POOR EXCUSE of an attorney. Same story, told us we had a pretty high chance for a WIN, got our $7500.00, he never showed up at court, didn't properly keep us up to date on the case (would often call a day or 2 before having to be IN the court room to tell us the date was set, Thanks for the heads up)Then on trial date had his monkey he sent inform us that there was NO WAY we could win, to plead guilty and get an interlock in 6 months. GEE THANKS! Trial was one year after the incident. Had my fiancée just plead guilty from the get go he would have his licence back now and would have saved us a ton of money... Instead, he is only 2 months in to his 1 yr suspension, we are in debt to my father in law, and now have to pay for an interlock. One side note, CB tried charging us 250 for a "expert" I never seen an "expert" we refused to pay... THIS GUY IS A SCAM AND ALL OF THE REVIEWS ARE 110% ACCURATE

I had to pay him $7500.00. He was to meet with me at the intial consultation but he did not show up . His substitute lawyer told me there was a good case for a WIN . He didn't show up at the next meeting either . Students or juniors showed up at the various court sessions instead of hiom . They always indicated that calvin Barry would WIN and that he held a lot of evens where a lot of Judges attended . It all shounded a SURE WIN . Kept demanding more money. So he had the full $7500.00 before the trial . But on the day of the trial he told told me for first time that we cannot win this case and that I should plead Gui;ty otherwise he was afraid that I could go to jail even thuogh it was a first time DUI.He had lied all along untile got all of the $7500.00. As result I could not get on the Fast Track program and it cost me more money for the interlock system etc .In my opinion he runs a scam .Don't beleive in what he says in his slick website.I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM ,STAY AWAY .Its m

I hired him and he didnt even show up fpr my trial. I ended up losing the case. Lost my licence and got a criminal record. I do not recommend this lawyer. He doesn't return calls and seems be too busy to care about his clients.

Calvin Barry helped me in the fraud charges placed on me unfairly because i worked for a commodity trader whom i trusted in 2010. Mr Barry is classy and intellegent and thorough with the law. he referred me to a good therapist to help me cope with fear ,He answered every phone call when i panicked and got all my charges completely thrown out at preliminary hearing . he is the best lawyer in canada , he is honest and charges way less than other leading criminal lawyers. I definitely would NOT recommend Calvin Barry as a choice for any legal services. He's out for your money and he'll say otherwise. DON'T believe in him. At first, the consultations are with him. Later he just ends up handing it off to someone else within his firm, even though you pay for his representation. When the big day came, I had someone from his firm represent me with NO MATERIALS to support my case. They knew my case had a little to NO chance right from the start. This was something they could of but didn't mention when they received my disclosure/evidence. They didn't put up a real proper fight for my case knowing and even emphasizing the IMPORTANCE of my case. He just talks fancy. Unfortunately I didn't listen to what I was told about him and to NOT let him represent me. This whole process only costed me. Wasting a ton of money, time & effort. Ultimately, I would have been better off just walking in myself and pleaing guilty. DON'T USE CALVIN BARRY. YOU'LL REGRET IT.

Mr. Calvin Barry is far away from being a lawyer. My life is miserable for the next 3 years because he could not represent my case as a professional lawyer. He also did not show up at the court house but sent an agent to work on behalf of him. Not worth to spend a penny on him. he thinks he is something but he really dose not even know the law.

My DUI experience sounds eerily like that of the person who left a review on 4/27/11. Aside from 2 sit-downs (1 needless) after my initial consultation, I only heard from them when they required more $. $7,000 or so to have my file passed to another 2 lawyers (1 from CB's office, 1 from another firm who bragged about being "the best"), who then passed it to another lawyer or 2 who, on my second day at court, recommended I plead guilty because the cop is "really good". It seemed like the Crown said more for my cause in court than my lawyer. If I (or CB) had just plead me guilty at the start, I would have saved thousands of $ and would have been driving sooner. I haven't heard from them since (almost a year since conviction) - not a thanks for your business, not a final invoice.

Spent $10.000 with this individual, at first he told me my case had the base for a strong defense and convinced me to sign up with them, on the week of my trial, his "little story" changed a little bit. Never returned my calls, only called me to ask for more money,the guy above is right, he works with a bunch of juniors wich probably have no clue about what they're doing. stay away from CB n associates. JUST NOT WORTH IT!!!

Do NOT hold for anyone in this firm for counsel, please. After a year of simple adjournments I was left with nothing in the way of defense for a DUI, even though I had no previous criminal record, and breathalyser readings barely cracking the .08 readings. DUI,currently (2011-03) is an almost infallible charge, unconstitutional, I beleive. For what it's worth, I paid 7 thousand for counsel that was very, very timid in a trial setting. In the end, I received the same as I would have if I had simple plead guilty. (minus the 7 grand, which I have a hard time believing went to true billing). Good luck. The law has made criminals out of responsible people while the real offenders will always, ALWAYS be out there.

I was very dissapointed with this lawyer. He never returned my calls and he was not prepared for my trial. It cost me thousands of dollars and in the end I am worse off than what I was when I hired him. I lost my licence and had to pay huge fines!!
