Hu Young has been nothing short of amazing from the moment I made contact with him years ago. His diligence, knowledge, care and time has been greatly appreciated. Anytime I had questions or concerns, he made sure to respond right away. He always made sure to update me throughout and explain everything in a way that made sense. In late 2020 I was left almost destitute in a foreign ocuntry by my common law wife of 9 years. I begged her for funds for 2 years. In late 2022 I approached Hu, who in fact had been my lawyer in 2014-2016. He graciously agreed to help me even though I could not pay him. My ex had unlimited funds and behaved like Donald Trump - deny, lie and appealed everything Hu won. Hu sucessfully had her 4 appeals dismissed. This case was extremely difficult due to my ex's going through 10 lawyers! And she even brought an application against him! Because he was so successful! This resulted in Hu having to hire an independent lawyer. Her attempts to remove him were dismissed. While most lawyers would not have stood by me, Hu went to extraordinary lengths to finally have justice served. Hu literally saved my life. I simply do not have the words to express Hu's 40+ years of experience and expertise about the law is second to none. His ratings should not be 5/5 they should be 10/5. Thank you Hu!

When listening to a friend talk about her divorce she expressed that wished she had her husbands lawyer instead of her own. She was upset that her husbands lawyer was so much more prepared, confident and competent then her lawyer, all I could say was “what’s his name”. That was Hu Young. He lived up to all expectations. Hu represented me in a high conflict divorce. I had hired other lawyers but they did not have the skills to deal with opposing counsel. I needed a senior lawyer with a lot of experience. Hu turned my file around. Hu has tremendous experience, really understands court procedures and etiquette, predicts outcomes because a lot of his cases have set precedent. During my JDR, the Justice often looked to Hu to provide opinion and clarity to opposing counsel. Not once did the Justice correct or overrule Hu. Hu is very prompt in responding and I got used to early morning (5AM) emails. Hu also works with Mr. Alex Mosaico as a team. Both made sure the right amount and accurate evidence was presented. Both Hu and Alex were very thorough. One may not like what Hu is advising, but because of his experience, he has an excellent understanding how Justices rule. If you need a senior experienced lawyer, I highly recommend Mr. Young.

I said to my ex sarcastically to get a good lawyer - she did. As I sat across the table from Hu representing her, it did not take me long to realize how much of a heavy weight he was. Hu took over my tumultuous divorce case from another firm that had been ongoing for seven years with little progress, and he was able to get it settled. Hu is very empathetic and genuinely cares about his clients and their outcomes. It was clear from the start that Hu is highly regarded and respected in his field. We had the pleasure of dealing with Mr. Young in dealing with a high-conflict commercial litigation matter involving a significant amount of money. Since we had a lot on the line, it was important to retain the services of a skilled and experienced legal counsel and we are glad we chose to go with Mr. Young. He was extremely professional and appropriately aggressive with opposing counsel from the get go and the matter which at one point seemed like would inevitably go through the courts, got settled and we believe it was because of Mr. Young. We had different counsel previously who couldn't push the big corporation (and equally big law firm) that was trying to bully us to act reasonably, however, the moment Mr. Young got involved on the file, we immediately noticed a change in their demeanour which ultimately resulted in us getting what we set out to. Couldn't recommend Mr. Young enough.

I would not advise you to use this lawyer. I went to a lengthy trial when it was not necessary. I believe that they should tell you all your options and costs upfront, and stop overbilling their clients with duplicate emails or unnecessary dialogue. If your responsible for obtaining financial disclosure, then obtain the full disclosure and not partial. When your client has rights they should be protected, including shareholder or creditor rights. Find a lawyer who believes in arbitration or mediation, and saving you $$$ thousands of dollars in work that is not necessary.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to both Hu Young and his legal team (esp Morgan) for their tireless efforts on completing my extremely challenging file. Hu is the sixth lawyer I hired during the four years of a category five hurricane divorce battle. I changed lawyers and hired Hu in the 6th year of a long and very difficult divorce. Hu told me he is a 'file finisher' and he absolutely is. He got everything that had been going on for so long completely finished (took a year and a half)-I am now finally divorced and am very happy with the results. He knows the law very well and knew the best strategy to take for each issue while considering the cost/benefit to me. He is confident, assertive and has integrity. Hu is the best family lawyer I've dealt with since I started my divorce in late 2013 in Edmonton. Looking back, it's a no-brainer to choose him over the others. He is super intelligent, knowledgeable, and responsive! I respect his work ethic and aggressive style. I was really lucky that he was my first lawyer. He's always on top of the things and never left me in the dark. Before or after every court appearance, he would promptly inform and advise. He responds quickly to my inquiry. He listens well and empathizes with his clients. My case got complicated when I have to relocate to Toronto, Ontario. Even so, Hu tried his best to get me the consent order and divorce judgment in 2 years. I'm very grateful what he did for me over the years. For your first contact, if his secretariat says that he will not receive a new client. In this case, please send an email directly to him, and explain what happened with you. I did it in Jan 2018, and Mr. Young accepted my case. I really appreciate everything that Mr. Young did to help me. Although I did not have as much as money to pay my lawyer fees, Mr. Young offered me a good price for the excellent legal services. Mr. Young possesses a warm heart, and he is always patient to hear your matters, and then find the best solutions for you. However, Mr. Young is very busy, and it likely seems he wants sometimes to ignore your opinions. At that moment, you should be patient, and try to send him an email to explain him what and why you want to do that. Trust him and you can win! Best luck to you!

I retained Hu Young after a 4 year old legal battle with two previous lawyers who accomplished very little for me. Hu is an astounding lawyer who is extremely competent, hard working, and goal orientated for his clients. Not only is he charming but also aggressive if necessary, even in court. 2 good points for a lawyer. He was quite annoyed with me, when the secretary made the telephone connection for me directly to him. I made my choice. He is helpfull and supportive and presents the law much more JUST than the ather 2 lawyer I had. He like 1 stop shopping, all at 1 place. If we had more people like him it would be, no doubt, a better world to live in. Only problem is, he is sitting on the wrong chair. He was much more than fair with me financially. I went to Hu after receiving some unsatisfactory results from my previous lawyer and in a court battle for the last 2.5 years. Mr. Young was my last attempt for a lawyer and I needed one quick. Since he agreed to take my case I was so fortunate he did. He was straight up front, and talk me what I was to expect. Hu was recommended to me by another lawyer who was not able to take my "High Conflict" divorce/access case due to conflict of interest. Thankfully I was referred to Hu!! Hu always kept me apprised of what was happening. His knowledge of the system was appreciated. Hu always explained my legal options as well as his recommendations and why. (His recommendations were always based on his experience) However, it was always my decision as to what I would do. But with his experience, I always made the right choice. The best advise Hu ever gave me was, "Try and resolve issues without going to court. If you put the decision making power in front of a Judge, expect the unexpected! It could go either way!" I met with Hu after having a very lengthy struggle that got nowhere. I had in hand a minimum amount of the court documents for fear I should not overwhelm. Hu took to read the materials I did bring, proceeded to ask direct questions of what he needed to know and then simply went to work. As far as I'm concerned, Hu is the best. He sure knows divorce law. He knows what, how and when to do or say what needs to be done or said. I never disagreed with any of his suggestions and never regretted following his advice. Unfortunately, I won't need his services again because after the nightmare I just went through I won't marry again. I would highly recommend Hu Young as a divorce and child custody lawyer. He comes across very assertive, but that is what you want in a divorce where it is not so amicable. I always felt like he was looking out for my best interest and was taking care of me! He knows the law and his way around the court room! Hu did an outstanding job on my divorce and child access. He kept me informed, and did very well in the courtroom setting. He pushed hard enough with my ex that we were able to negotiate a fair deal that we both can live with and not have to spend more time and money in court. Hu was my second lawyer, the first lawyer worked on the case for 3 years to no solution and Hu had it settled in less than 6 months. “Principled” is what struck me first about Hu. Facing a rather nasty and detailed divorce I was referred to Hu by another lawyer that said, and I quote....”I don’t want this file, it will take me ten years to finish it”...end of quote. He proceeded to tell me that Hu, was his lawyer as well and he would recommend no one else.
Needing to return to Edmonton to finish my divorce, and other matters, I met Hu in person. From that day to this, which is not ten years...not even close, Hu has all my outstanding matters nicely handled and completed.
I found in Hu the integrity, the tenacity, the skill and the value that impressed me. Hu, and his staff, offered me the comfort of knowing that things were in more than capable hands. Any so-called ‘tense’ moments between Hu and I were of my own making, perhaps due to fear or insecurity on my part.
So, would I recommend Hu?.....anytime, anyplace, for any reason at all. He will get the job done right.

Hu was recommended to me after a previous lawyer found herself in a "conflict of interest" with my divorce file. My file is labeled "high conflict" which constitutes less than 5% of divorce files. When I had to hire a new lawyer, several lawyers declined my invitation to meet because of the "high conflict" nature of my file. When I initially provided Hu the skeletal details of my file, he claimed he was "intrigued" and liked new challenges. My file has been nothing less than excruciatingly challenging. Hu has often exceeded my expectations and won nearly every court application. I recommend Hu to anyone seeking counsel with integrity and tenacity.
