While chapter 7 is never easy, these folks manage to make it more difficult. Aside from filing over 50 days after paying retainer, the office of Stanley bowman (he does very little) managed to lose our tax returns day before our 341a meeting, come up with unfounded charges (filing fees twice as much as normal?) and missed two deadlines that forced the discharge to take twice as long as it should have. While we eventually finished the process, it was done so poorly I felt compelled to warn other folks from working with this firm.
His wife handles billing, and regardless of whatever pitch and promises Stanley makes, she will negate them, and can be difficult and inflexible.
Horrible experience, next time I'll spend the money on a real lawyer with insurance and who hasn't been penalized by the bar, or spent the last few months in a out of rehab.

Mr. Bowman was hired to handle a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy case. He was fired about 1/2 way through due to invalid information being submitted to the courts, docs submtd late, being late to court dates and invalid and unauth add charges outside of retainer. He was sued in Small Claims, Judge dismissed all add charges beyond orig contract. I was liable for the remain bal on retainer of $715.00 plus $100 in court fees. He continues to send invoices for full amt that was dismissed by court with threatening hand written notes demanding paymt in full. He has already been disciplined by the California Bar Association for unethical behavior which he continues to do.
Mr. Bowman has been unreachable as he ignores letters sent to his office sent both certified and first class. He does not answer called let with his answering service and his office never answers their phone directly. His wife manages his front office and brings the dog to work daily.
