Israel Apter is not only a professional lawyer with extensive knowledge of family law but he is also a compassionate individual who is 100% client-focused. If you'd like a sweet, passive lawyer who will simply tell you what the law says, who won't fight for you, and who will often remind you that you can always change lawyers if you're not happy, then by all means, hire Stephanie. I contracted Krol & Krol on reco from my EAP through which a discount is offered. I suspect the quality of their service was driven by the fact that I was a "discount client". Stephanie was very knowledgeable about the law but did not take into account the specifics of my case which were VERY different from the typical. She was very laid back, no sense of urgency and simply advised that I'd have no option but to pay spousal support. My ex husband on the other hand hired a total shark who was coming after me for everything and was totally unreasonable. I fired Stephanie after I disagreed with her settlement proposal, which I reviewed with 4 other lawyers and they ALL her counsel was flawed. My new lawyer negotiated an entirely different deal I was thrilled with

Going through a separation or divorce is stressful. Searching for a lawyer can be stressful as well. Finding a trusted advisor that will treat you fair and give you genuine advice is imperative. When emotions run high and your stress level is through the roof, you need someone that is understanding, sympathetic and focussed. Someone that hears you out and steers you in the right direction. Yes, all or most lawyers like all business people are in business to make money. That being said, I believe that a few exist that are genuinely interested in helping people. I believe they can demonstrate that in several ways. One of the ways is how they follow up and how they respond. Another is fairness in fees and billing. I feel that I have been treated extremely fairly and have become a strong advocate. The Krol family of lawyers will impress you on every level.
