I switched from a cheap attorney that would say one thing and file another. I hired Courtney thinking I would get much better service after reading such high reviews and her education. Everything after the initial meeting was by email, whatever was said was not done, no advice was given, the same document went back n forth 7 times with no consultation. She was unable to communicate effectively with the other attorney or with the judge. Paperwork was filed without her knowledge. In the end, after 8 or 9 months I paid $30,000 for nothing. I was worse off then when I started. Do not use this attorney for a divorce.

Readers should take these reviews with a grain of salt, as anyone can post anonymous reviews on this site - opposing party, opposing counsel, a stalker, a scorned individual, a competitor in the industry,etc. A reviewer can also post different reviews on different websites pretending to be different "clients." This is in an attempt to hurt a person's reputation and livelihood with false claims - all ANONYMOUSLY. Ms. Shepard is an EXCELLENT attorney who cares about her clients.

An absolutely awful experience with the law firm of Burch Coulson & Shepard. Very sloppy work product., profuse overfilling, misrepresented case faces and status, provided inaccurate advice, failed to provide standard level of advice and appropriate case direction. Little to know senior leadership on case and extremely high turnover of staff and over-billing

I hired attorney Courtney Shepard and she met with me and my mother ONCE in person for any type of in-depth consultation.
She stated on multiple occasions that she was going to file a motion for my divorce and custody and NEVER did. They then neglected to contact me when they decided not to file the default altogether! When you are fighting for your child- and you are told things are almost over while you are missing months of his life- this is UNACCEPTABLE. I am know having to fight to recover any remaining part of the retainer and obtain a billing statement.
I work hard, often in excess of 10 hours a day and make nothing near the $300 something an hour Ms. Shepard is making.
It's pretty sorry that someone who claims to be an advocate for families would provide this kind of service.i would NOT recommend this firm for anyone who seriously wants to take care of their family.

Courtney handeld my case over several years. She i smart, remembers every detail, thinks strategically and she is great to talk with and listens well. She gave me different scenarios and I felt safe and that my heart could relax knowing she truly cared. I am a real client.

Good experience with Ms. Shepard overall. Smart and was fairly current on family law and offered alternative approaches and perspectives which added value. She seemed fairly on top of things and details. I think she gets bogged down with clients and isn't as responsive to emails or phone calls, however, someone else did follow-up with me which was appreciate. Overall, nothing that makes me not recommend her.

I liked working with Courtney. She had a good sense of family law, everything flowed with the process, paperwork was pretty correct when it came time to review. She managed my expectations pretty accurately and she cared.
