+1 to all of the negative reviews. It’s good that everyone has the same opinion about Michael. It’s better to represent yourself than hiring this nightmare of a lawyer. The law society should really take his license back so he can stop messing people’s lives.

"He huffed and he puffed but the brick house did not blow down." Michael is a bluffer. When the action gets real, he is out of his league. Nickels and dimes you to death on billings. Retired-on-the-job would be an accurate description of this part-time guy.

caring, patient, my case was just as important as others, always explained my options and recommended what the best course was, very detailed oriented - court documents were very well laid out, in detail and factual, good communicator and in a timely manner

I had used Michael Clarke's services for the simple notarization of documents going overseas. It may not have been a big task, and yet he still went over the wording very carefully so I understood the responsibility I was about to take on. Thank you.

Mr. Clarke took the time to carefully explain things in very simple, understandable terms. Family law can be very complicated and emotionally taxing for most people. He is sincere and very knowledgeable. He is definitely the type of lawyer I want in my corner - calm, composed and experienced. He doesn't waste time and he knows what he's talking about. Thanks a lot for everything!

If your looking for experience, loyalty and dedication than Michael Clarke is the lawyer for you! I experienced all of these qualities during my time spent in his office and in court. I highly recommend this lawyer.

If you are looking for a lawyer who has experience than Michael Clarke definitely has that experience however if you are like most people out there who live paycheque to paycheque and you don’t have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend on him then his experience will go towards his arrogance and work against you. I hired Mr. Clarke to defend me on a matrimonial case without children involved and he openly admitted to taking direction from opposing counsel and wanted more money from me in order to understand my case a lot better even though I had provided him all of the necessary information ahead of time. I’m not giving this review because I’m angry but I’m giving this review simply to warn others that Mr. Clarke is only in it for the money and not looking out for your best interest unless in fact he knows that you’ve got a lot of money to spend or a lot of money to gain on your case because he will not fight for you if he doesn’t see a potential huge financial win for him

Amazing Family Law Lawyer. Michael P. Clarke is honest, trustworthy, compassionate and dedicated to his clients. He provided me with clear and realistic options throughout my difficult and challenging separation. I interviewed three family law lawyers before retaining Michael Clarke. After meeting with Michael, my first impression was Trust!! I knew I was safe and his ethics were fantastic. Michael was confident. Michael Clarke is a highly experienced lawyer who provided me with tremendous depth of knowledge but also was careful with my budget. He pointed out what I could do for myself to keep my costs down and also really helped me understand the landscape so that I could ultimately make the right decisions. He is not a marriage therapist (don't expect that). Instead he will weigh out pros and cons and explain the risks in taking various paths. He counsels in a way that leans toward a mediation mindset rather than aggressive revenge. In the end I received a very fair settlement that I was happy with. I was also very happy with what it cost me. He did not "nickel and dime" me and in the end when I had a few final things to clear up he did not even charge me for that. Overall great value and even greater peace of mind.

Great lawyer! Honest and knows what he doing ! Expensive , but it worth it . As cheep lawyer will cost you more over time then he does ! He can resolve your case in a month while other lawyer will take a 6 month ! I would Recommend him to all couple, who go through divorce!

Michael Clarke represented me in my divorce. I was married for under one year and this guy doesn't say a word when I'm dinged with 5 years of spousal support. He is the worst lawyer I have ever met, he waited till the day before my court date to go over all the separation agreement and in turn gave my ex everything she wanted including full custody! I would recommend never using Michael Clarke as a family lawyer. He will not help you and you will pay a lot of money for absolutely nothing. Someone should take him to court for ruining so many lives... He represents himself as the best family lawyer in Hamilton, this is so very far from the truth. He does not care about you or your case. I actually got in to a disagreement with him about how I wanted to proceed with my trial and he refused to change what he was doing. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Look elsewhere!!!

I agree with the above poster. I have personally used him for several years and he used me because of not knowing the system. He is driven with money and never does his job to the extent that he can. He is ignorant, and egotistic. I learned my lesson the hard way that cost me a lot of money where it should of been and open close case. He creates problems for you so he can continue "representing you". My advice would be not to even go to him with a ten foot pole. Way better and honest lawyers out there.

In my opinion Michael P Clarke (Hamilton ON) has a broken moral compass. It all boils down to $$$ as he will represent anyone who is willing to pay his $400/hr fee. In the end, he represented my X who was found unfit and currently has NO legal unsupervised access to our children. Despite my X having obvious mental health and substance abuse issues, Michael P Clarke inappropriately fought for 50/50 access for his client (proclaiming he was an upstanding citizen & attempting to portray me as an unfit mother). What I feel you need to be aware of before you retain Mr Michael P Clarke. #1 He is a one man show. When he is in trial or goes on vacation you are left alone. I suggest finding a law firm that has a group of lawyers that can support you. #2 He is late for court. #3 He profits from sending letters on your behalf (back and forth between lawyers) but then avoids actually changing anything. In my opinion, Mr Michael P Clarke was ineffective. He is driven by $$$ not morals.
