I have one of the toughest cases around, Robyn has never given up or waivered. She continues to push forward in all areas of the law. I could never have made it this far if it wasn't for her. Robyn did a brilliant job on my matter and I would not hesitate in recommending her. Given other comments, I should mention I am a man and experienced quite a contentious breakup with my wife - I never felt gender came into my relationship with Robyn at all.

I met Robyn about a year ago following 2 horrible experiences with 2 other family lawyers in Edmonton. She is a breath of fresh air. Robyn is a straight shooter., she is not going to tell you what you want to hear, she’s going to tell you the truth. She isn’t going to sugar coat things and she isn’t going to say anything she isn’t 100% prepared to do. Robyn will not waste your time. Robyn will not waste your money. She’s scrappy when she has to be yet there is compassion that seemed to be missing in my 2 previous lawyers. Robyn’s honesty and integrity is uncompromising. I saw this first hand. She doesn’t get lured into pissing contests with opposing counsel (sorry, best way I could say that)... she remains focused and calm. Robyn believed in me, she believed in the settlement I asked for...where the first 2 lawyers looked for what was easiest for them, not what was right for me . She did not falter and the final result was successful. I 100% recommend her

Robyn is passionate about her work and advocates strongly for her clients. She was very available and efficient during my interactions working with her. She is thorough, effective and a great communicator. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a great family lawyer who will work hard for her client.

Ms. Smedstad is an excellent lawyer, and I have since recommended her to two friends. She was always quick to respond to emails and calls, and knows her stuff inside and out. What I appreciated most, though, was that her primary concern was always my children. Ms. Smedstad attended court with me, twice, due to my case and was extremely effective. As I had no experience with the legal system prior to her, she was extremely patient in answering questions, empathetic with my concerns, and a strong ambassador for me and my kids.

Male clients should avoid Smedstad. She can't separate her personal affairs from work. Bluntly: she hates men.

I am grateful to have found Robyn to handle my divorce. She is a fierce advocate who really knows her stuff. At the same time, she's able to explain things in layperson terms without talking down to you. She and her office communicate well and are responsive to questions/concerns. I am extremely happy with the services I've received from her so far. She has negotiated aggressively but fairly on my behalf in order to get the best outcome possible. She's a straight shooter and tells it like it is. I highly recommend her!

Robyn was hard working, intelligent, and full of enthusiasm to obtain movement in my divorce case. Unfortunately she was only able to obtain minimal results in 1 year, in which my ex's lawyer was to blame, due to ignorance. Due to financial limitations her firm had to drop the case.

Robyn was wonderful for my Granddaughter and I. Our situation was particularly prickly and contentious. She was able to get us through the litigation with humour and insight. She worked with us and opposing council to obtain the best possible outcome for my granddaughter and I. Grateful for the help and support.
