She is all mouth and no action. Yes, she routinely insulted me and my husband while representing me in my custody case. It was hard at times to figure out just who she was representing. It certainly wasn't me. When she felt frustrated about the case she would constantly threaten me to quit. (Why didn't I let her?) She would go in utterly unprepared and then blame me for the loss. I would tell her things and after loosing tell me that I didn't tell her. Please, if you are considering her "legal" services, do yourself a favor and move on.

Marilyn was absolutely the worst choice I could've ever made. I dropped almost $30,000 in which turned out to be a big mistake. She steered me towards all of these ridiculous services including psychiatric evaluations for me my son and my ex-wife. All she did was make things worse, piss off everybody including the judge, drop the ball over and over. In court she would show up late and would not even be prepared with what she had to do. Even after my wife and I settled with an agreement she tried to sabotage it by getting in a fight over my wife's comment about her perfume. She was my biggest financial mistake ever.

Marilyn is an odd character. She gave very good advice, but for the wrong case. I was clueless about divorce and had to rely on her predictions and advice. I told her I wanted to pay as little as possible and shift fees to my husband, who had the money to pay. She gave me a game plan that was expensive, but said I had to pay a lot to get what I wanted. I went along with it, and she ended up charging me three times what she predicted--and got nothing but catastrophic results. She angered the judge, my ex, my ex's lawyer, and even my family. Her "predictions" about my ex were all wrong--he would have gladly paid but when she pissed everyone off he dug in and made the entire process horrifying. It ruined all of us. Now I read that she's been doing this to other clients and has been sued for racketeering, fraud, and abusing clients in san diego. The lawsuit is by california coalition for families and children v. san diego county bar association. are there any honest divorce lawyers?

I had a difficult divorce with an ex who is truly schizophrenic. Truly. Marilyn did a great job navigating around his issues and his attorney. She was amazing in court and appears to be well respected by the judges. She handled my divorce very well with all the crazy changes. Her billing was very fair as she understood my financial situation. I was referred to her by two good friends who were very happy with her services and I recommend her as well. She was great!

All I can say is look at the language used in the positive ratings. It is too similar and it is not written by a lay person but rather an attorney.

Marilyn represented my ex-wife. I was unrepresented. We had a simple divorce and she made it more complicated. She tried a couple Perry Mason's on me, they wwere hilarious. My ex spent thousands arguing over a $15,000 dispute with me. I ended up giving my ex $2000. My ex spent about $6K with Marilyn to get $2K from me. When I went to Marilyn’s office to sign the final agreement, there were financial errors in my favor. My ex and I had already seen these and new it was to be edited. When I pointed this out to Marilyn, she starting cussing, and blaming it on her email. WTF!

Simply cannot compete with the "power players". If you have anything more than a basic case she is not the attorney for you.

Marilyn has consistently dropped the ball in my case. She first said she would file motions, yet never got around to it. Each time I speak with her I get yelled at for no good reason. She is very unprofessional in her demeanor with clients, so much that I was often afraid to contact her regarding my case. Prior to receiving my retainer did she give the impression she could win my case. Afterwards I didn't once feel like she was on my side to help me out...isn't that why you hire an attorney? Hmmmm... I agree with below comments that all the good reviews have been written by Mariilyn herself. Do yourself a favor - shop around for another attorney.

I read these negative reviews and I am shocked....they are just not true. Marilyn is an excellent attorney that truly cares about her clients. She is very fair about her billing and is easily reachable. She enjoys an excellent reputation in the community.

Marilyn Bierer is a tireless advocate for children and board member for Kids Turn - an exempliary resource to improve co-parenting for the sake of the child. There are always winners and losers in battles of the heart, but like the court, Marilyn and her team retains a no-nonsense and steadfast focus on what is right for the child. Marilyn developed a straight forward and comprehensive strategy in my case, preventing a move away that would have been damaging to my child's immediate and long-term well being. I have recommended Marilyn several times since my case, and will strongly continue to do so for anyone who has to endure the painful process of separation and resolution.

I will always be grateful to Ms. Bierer for being an incredible and effective advocate for my children (all minors) and me. Thanks to Ms. Bierer, I have full custody of my 3 minor children and receive very generous (but fair) family support each month.Prior to retaining Ms. Bierer, I was represented by 2 different SD family law attorneys, neither of whom obtained any results for me, even after issuing extensive discovery and filing extensive motions, etc. My very contentious and painful case was resolved (in my favor) within 6 months of hiring Ms. Bierer. I was shocked to read the negative commentary posted by other individuals. Their alleged experiences with Ms. Bierer are the polar opposite of mine. I would recommend Ms. Bierer to anyone who seeks competent and efficient representation. Ms. Bierer cares about her clients.

I have read the reviews and I am truly puzzled at the comments about Ms. Bierer. Ms. Bierer represented me in a custody issue and her service was impeccable. She was knowledgeable and excellent in court. Her staff is friendly and accomodating and always helpful. My calls were returned promptly and her bill rate was reasonable compared to other attorneys I met with. Ms. Bierer was professional and her commitment to my case was extraordinary. I felt taken care of and I felt like shr understood my position. Ms. Bierer was able to get the custody order I wanted despite a horrible FCS report. I would recommend her to anyone seeking a divorce or involved in a custody dispute.

Marilyn Bierer is a terrible lawyer, even by the very low standards of divorce lawyers. She was entirely ineffective in my case, often angering the judge who at one point had to ask the bailiff (Sheriffs Deputy) to physically restrain her. It was humiliating. She lost every motion but charged over $10k per month. She's an alcoholic and encouraged me to make false charges against my ex. Divorce is tough, but Marilyn feeds off of your or your ex-spouses assets by doing a terrible job. She encourages conflict, escalates costs, plays on your emotions, and is terrible at resolving cases. Now that the dust has settled on my dispute I'd advise anyone going through a divorce to enter settlement immediately, be reasonable (to avoid enriching scum layers like Marilyn), and try to forge a cooperative relationship with your ex--it may be tough at first but in the long run it will be worth it. Good luck and God Bless.

cost a fortune - got very little in return - other than insults. Ordered TONS of disclosure and made everyone angry - didn't even look at any of the info received. Totally unprepared in court - couldn't even remember my husband's name...(same as mine..?) and proceeded to argue HIS case.....no one would believe it - if my friend wasn't there in court with me I would have thought I was having a bad dream... When I first met Marilyn she told me my husband's atty "wasn't very smart" - turns out his atty was a great white shark - I would recommend my husband's atty to anyone...Marilyn - to no one..Marilyn would insult me for not understanding legal jargon & proceedings etc...but isn't that what you hire them for? to understand all that stuff..The judge didn't like Marilyn and kept mispronouncing her name on purpose and Marilyn kept correcting her every time...it was a circus and I was caught in the middle..I feel that I sufferred severely because of Marilyn and hope no one has to go thru th

Its quite obvious that the review posted with the all 5 rating is Marilyn herself. She ask for and generates mountains of paperwork for trivial cases, then fails to review the paperwork. Go figure, that sure sounds like churning to me. Approaches cases using the confrontational approach which in turn churns more fees. She will only settle thru the court system.

unbelievable, the post from 5/17 took the words right out of my mouth. Marilyn was completely incapable and ill prepared throughout my case. Her poor judgment, lack of communication and strategy have cost me fair visitations with my children. Save yourself a lot of money and frustration, and do not use this attorney.

Marilyn provided me with excellent counsel in a complex case. I was very pleased with my outcome. My calls, emails and questions were always answered promptly and thoroughly. I work in the legal field and her billing was very fair and in line with what others in the legal community are charging. I have recommended her to many clients who have engaged her services and are also very satisfied.

Bills like a major leaguer, but has the skill set and work quality production like that of a farm team. Unless you have the most basic divorce case, walk away from this one. She routinely over bills for the most basic legal work. Her lack of understanding of the issues and lack of a strategy leaves her clients constantly on the defensive. She routinely neglects her cases until she is head to court leaving her clients once again at a disadvantage and scrambling to get the proper paperwork filed. Her lack of perperation often leads to heightened cost to get the work done at the last minute. That cost is passed on to the client. Her emotional instability adds unneeded drama to the process and has cost her respect among her collegues. If you are looking for a champion to guide you through the legal challenges of a Divorce and protect your interest, this is not your attorney.
