I would give zeros if the rating system would let me. Crap attorney who screwed me and my kids. Years later we still struggle because of the financial vise he left me in. Total disregard for my future welfare and a complete washing of his hands of me for a more interesting case with a hockey player. And there he is in his big building on Hillsborough and fatness while we struggle, day after day, year after year. Be wise about who you pick for an attorney as it will matter for the rest of your children's lives.

When you first visit D. Caldwell Barefoot, Jr., you'll be treated to the "Southern Gentleman" persona. Don't be fooled. Don't be fooled by the "I have years of experience", don't be fooled by the "I couldn't sleep and the dog was snoring" stories where he feigns concern over you and your children. He'll work you and quietly size you up as to how much money you can pay him. Once he gets his money from you, he's pretty casual about your life. My experience is that he is not knowledgeable, that he is lazy, and unless you are a rich, local hockey player with money to burn, you won't do well. In fact, you will fair badly. I receive next to no advice, I was not supported, what advice I received was dead wrong, when I tell other lawyers what he did, they say: That's not procedure. What he has done to me, and therefore my children, will follow us the rest of our lives. My children have been through a very difficult time thanks to Barefoot. My nightmare is not over.
