In Oregon the laws are such that adoptive couples have to hire an attorney to represent the birthparents as well. Our attorney, who was great, recommended Robin Pope who we ended up hiring. Although our attorney accepted credit card Robin was cash only. She estimated an hour session with the birth parents and then ended up using 2 and half. Afterwards the birthparents were offended and complaining on the drive home about her professionalism and manners. Our attorney ended up giving us a refund for his unspent retainer which was the same as Robins retainer. I called several times in the past month to get a hold of Robin but my voicemails went unreturned. Finally I got a hold of her and inquired about a possible refund from unspent money. Instead, just yesterday, I got a bill for more money. I wish I would have never called her.
