Never did anything. Never returns calls. Allowed opposing respondent in a family law situation to control the agenda. When you ask for action or answers she finds ways to blame the Client. She will not protect or advocate for you. Stay away!

She was the worst attorney I had ever worked with. I had never been through divorce or child custody arrangements. Initially she sells you with a soft side and indicates she is a excellent attorney in dissolution matters. As it turned out she was terrible. During the 20 month separation and proceeding she continuely had my children's name incorrect and every time I corrects her mistakes, I was charged. She made very bad decisions and representations. Then she had the nerve to send correspondence blaming me as the client and charged me for her letters discussing the over charges in billing and continuous clerical errors within her administrative support. I'm looking back at my paperwork now and I should have sued her for incompetence. Stay clear...final another attorney. Or try it yourself...odds are better....

When I first met her I felt so relieved that I would finally be taken care of thru my divorce... After a few weeks I quickly started realizing that my bill was going up and nothing was getting accomplpished with my case. When I quesioned her she gave me excuses as to what all the billing was for. As the months went on very little was happening with my case and the bills were rapidly increasing, multiple times she refused to even speak to me unless I made a payment first. My children were being severely injured by their non custodial parent and when I called and emailed her frantically she would NOT speak to me until I paid a percentage of my balance FIRST.She does not care at all about her clients and safety or well being of the innocent children involved.She only cares about over charging for minimal work.After finding a new attorney I deeply regret spending a dime on Carol and wish I would have dumped her sooner.Be cautious!Dealing with her will ensure more stress during you divorce

Carol was my attorney through a seriously horrible child custody case. My case was not about how much money I would get or about dividing up property. It was about protecting my children. My kids were truly in peril. At the time I was a graduate student with little money to spare. We were in and out of court for about 5 years (1998 to 2003). My children's father received all kinds of slack from the court and social services despite proof that he was an unfit parent. Eventually Carol got his custody was vacated. My kids, now much older, are happy, healthy and never have to deal with that suffering again. I don't know what I would have done without Carol's help. She worked very hard for me. She charged me very reasonable prices and really went to bat for me. Family law is often not a happy line of work. People are pissed off at each other and want to get jabs in. So it does not surprise me that some clients would be unhappy. In my case she saved my children.

Mrs Sternberg and her office are fabulous and very professional. I am currently going thru a divorce and feel very supported.I do not feel that she is just out for money..she is there for me and my daughter. I feel she is smart, proactive and doesnt take crap....I would recommend her to anyone. I also appreciate the patience her staff has for me when I call or email. They are very helpful. 5 stars!

I hired Carol Sternberg despite the reviews. I was represented by a horrible attorney previously and saw Ms. Sternberg in court representing another client. I was very impressed by her knowledge, professionalism, and her ability. She was organized and seemed to garner a great deal of respect from the judge--which my attorney did not. I immediately looked her up on line and was surprised by the reviews. Because I had seen her in action, I decided to meet with her. She was extremely helpful and immediately made me feel at ease during a stressful high conflict situation with my x husband. I felt safe and confident with he knowledge and she provided me with a clear cut plan that I could follow and understand. Her fees are reasonable and she is extremely fair in working with me and even created a payment plan for me. She is very responsive to calls and emails and communicates really well. I have been represented by the best and worst attorneys in LA and Carol is definately among the best.

Carol gives the wrong advice and it really screwed me. And despite the 20 plus years of supposed experience, she has no knowledge of the law. She always takes personal phone calls during the times that I met with her and billed me for it. Very unprofessional. She goes to court unprepared. Her reputation truly proceeds her.

This attorney was referred to me by my very good friend who had Carol on the opposition of her divorce. I was very hesitant at first when I saw that she had been suspended for 30 days. However, after reading the Judge's ruling, I realized that it wasn't her fault but that of her husband who was the office manager at the time. Furthermore, no one got hurt. She produced exactly what she said she would. And after a 22 year marriage, I need someone with the experience and the guidance she gave me. I have since referred her at least 3 people who are also very satified with her results. I would use her again.

Unfortunately I already hired this attorney and was told by many to just stick with what in the meantime. We'll see what happens. I wish though I would of done thorough research before I hired her. Embarass to say my sister found the negative reviews. I was shocked to find these reviews about her but at the same time everything made sense. She is a poor communicator. I write this review to support all the people who had the misfortune of hiring her. There are some great attorneys out there. Definitely do get a referral or do some kind of research first. Wish me luck people.

This lawyer has just finished a 30 Day Suspension from the State Bar Court of California. The ruling and reason can be found on the State Bar website. She has, in our opinion, been less than ethical and honest one of the cases she is currently involved in. If she is unresponsive, you should read the Action on the State Bar site. She held onto a client's money for MONTHS!!!

I am tentatively rating this lawyer. We have been using her for almost 9 months and have found her to be uncommunicative and nonperforming. (Example, 8 months later and we still do not have a court date). If things improve I will return and correct this rating but right now we are frustrated and this is the best recourse we have.
